European Commission: EU's agriculture face major challenges
The European Union’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is facing serious challenges – Joost Korte, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate said in Siófok, on the first day of the Agricultural Sector Conference of Portfolio.hu.
According to Joost Korte flexibility in CAP should be increased in order to facilitate better co-operation between the farmers as well as to increase the share of farmers in the supply chain. He called sustainability and innovation as an important aspect. Also changes are needed in law-making and applying he said, adding that the the management of the CAP should be transformed first.
