Watermelon oversupply in Europe
This year’s watermelon season was characterised by low purchasing prices and oversupply, not only in Hungary but in the whole of Europe. This year Spanish and Italian watermelon was still in the international market in the middle of July, while Hungarian farmers couldn’t deliver as much watermelon as was needed there, therefore some of the watermelon got stuck in the Hungarian market and purchasing prices dropped.
