Retail food prices in the first quarter increased by five percent in Europe, six percent in Hungary
The average Hungarian food retail prices have risen by 6 percent in the first quarter of this year, compared to last year's comparable period.
This is the second highest inflation rate in Europe after the 12 percent inflation rate in Turkey. On average in twenty-one countries, consumer prices rose by 5 percent – shows Nielsen’s study.
Store sales of food, household chemicals and cosmetics increased by a total of 5 percent in terms of value. In January – March this year in terms of volume one percent less goods were sold in Hungary, compared to last year's comparable period.
