The increasing of recycling is a Europe-wide trend
According to the survey of the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE); The household glass recycling in Europe increased into record heights, in 2008.
In 2008, 25.5 billion bottles, about 11 474 000 tonnes of glass was collected into containers in Europe, compared to the 10 972 000 tonnes, that was measured in 2007. In Switzerland 95 percent of the glass became recycled. This ratio is 94 percent in Sweden. These countries mantained their outstanding results. The ratio in the Czech Republic increased to 64 percent, fom 50 percent. By contrast, Hungary reached only 28 percent, which is very far from the EU targets.
