Europe-wide shortage of apricots
This year a shortage can occur of apricot throughout Europe – magyaridok.hu wrote. The Hungarian production is far below the usual level, but farmers in the most significant regions of the European Union, such as in Italy, Greece and France, face a major decline.
Farmers can harvest less crops not only in Hungary, but also in the largest apricot producing countries in the European Union. According to the report of the Agricultural Research Institute (AKI), an average of around 700,000 tons of apricots per year will be harvested in EU member states from 65-72 thousand hectares.
