EU: Most European bathing waters meet quality standards
According to the report, published on Tuesday, nearly 85 percent of the 21,859 bathing sites surveyed across Europe met the European Union’s most stringent standards for “excellent” water quality.
Coastal areas, which account for two-thirds of all bathing areas, and natural waters are generally of better quality than bathing areas with pools. In 2021, 88 percent of EU coastal bathing areas achieved an excellent rating, compared to 78.2 percent for artificial bathing waters. (Gebauer Szabolcs, MTI)
