EU: climate change, urbanization and the demographic crisis are among the main global megatrends
The challenges posed by climate change, urbanization and the demographic crisis are among the most important global megatrends, which will inevitably and greatly affect the functioning of the world by 2030 – the EU warned in a report published on Monday.
The document – “Global Trends until 2030: Challenges and Opportunities for Europe”, compiled jointly by experts from the main EU institutions – was presented at the European Parliament’s Brussels headquarters.
The summary highlighted that global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels will cause economic and environmental damage. In addition, Europe and Africa are facing serious demographic challenges, with the former facing an aging population, and the latter facing a population explosion. (MTI, Bajnok Artúr)
