More than last year, almost 211 thousand tons of sunflowers were harvested in Békés County – agrarszektor.hu wrote. This quantity can be considered as average, but the content of the nutrients is far below last year’s. The purchasing price per tonne has now dropped to 88-90 thousand from the 94-95 thousand forints of two weeks earlier.
Sunflower was planted on 78 thousand hectares in Békés County. The harvest became 210.6 thousand tons, which is average, and the average yield is 2.7 tons per hectare. Crop yields vary greatly between 1 and 3.5 tons per hectare, and farmers can not be satisfied with the nutritional value – Barabás Béla, secretary of the Agricultural Producers’ Association in Békés County.
