Ice cream sales stable in terms of value, dropping in terms of quantity
Retail sales of ice cream remain stable at HUF 18 billion annually, but dropped by 7 percent in terms of quantity in the February 2008-January 2009 period, compared to the preceding 12 months. Impulse products account for 38 percent of total sales in terms of value, while the family size segment accounts for 62 percent. Discounts and supermarkets are the primary distribution channels for ice cream. Average prices showed fluctuation last year. Private labels accounted for 66 percent of sales in the impulse segment in December-January and for 43-48 percent in the family size segment.
