Food retail sales in the last 12 months increased in value, decreased in volume
In the sales of the 90 food categories measured by Nielsen, the food retail revenue increased by 4 percent, and excessed 1,370 billion HUF between Febrary 2012 and January 2013, compared to the previous comparable period.
In volume the stores sold 1 percent less food products, than a year earlier – shows the Retail Index of Nielsen consumer information and knowledge services company.
In value margarine, ice cream, vodka, corn flakes, and cocoa powder reached double-digit growth, that is much higher than the average growth.
In volume, more cheese, sour cream and mineral water was sold from one year to the other in
Nielsen's ten best-selling categories.
