The retail sales of tea increased by value and by quantity
According to Nielsen market research company; the retail sales of tea increased by 10 percent in value and by 3 percent in volume in the 2008 August and 2009 July period, compared to the same period of the previous year.
The annual market size is nearly 12 billion, exceeding the annual volume of 1 600 tonnes. Demand has increased for filter herbal teas. Market share value has increased, from 23 percent to 25 percent, during the tested period. The real filter fruit tea’s market share increased from 15 to 17 percent. Prices increased the most intensively in the 2009 April-July period, but not because of the VAT increase.
