Drugstores’ market position became more stable
The annual market of household chemicals and cosmetics exceeds the value of HUF 300 billion. According to Nielsen, these products’ retail sales did not change this January-August, compared with the same period of the last year – neither in value nor in volume. Among store types drugstores strengthened their position with increasing speed: sales grew by 6 percent in value and by 4 percent in volume. Ágnes Villányi, the head of Nielsen’s commercial relations department told that in comparison with food products, the purchasing of chemical products is much more concentrated. Hypermarkets’ share of value sales was 38 percent, followed by drugstores with 27 (up 2 percent).
