After two more restrained years, Flora Hungaria Kft., which operates the Flora Hungaria Nagybani Virágpiac, is expecting a stronger turnover in the domestic flower trade this year.
After Valentine’s Day in February, demand jumps significantly on Women’s Day on March 8, the company reminded. Flora Hungária does not expect prices to rise, according to their expectation, customers will be able to buy flowers at the prices of the second half of last year.
According to the surveys of the company that operates the Szigetszentmiklós wholesale market, the desire to buy flowers is unbroken, and Hungarians love to give flowers as gifts. In the spring, Mother’s Day and the graduation period, and in the second half of the year, the name days of Mary, Elizabeth and Catherine, as well as All Saints’ Day and the Day of the Dead, as well as the period of Advent, bring outstanding traffic.
On Women’s Day, the most popular flowers are those related to the spring season, such as tulips, hyacinths, daffodils in potted and cut forms, as well as fresh domestically produced ornamental plants such as primula and cyclamen.
