E-commerce continues this year with this strong Christmas boom

The shortened opening hours and the consumer demand to avoid the crowds may give an additional boost to the parcel and internet trade at the end of the year, the total turnover of this segment is expected to exceed 1,050 billion HUF this year. This represents a 45 percent annual increase compared to last year, according to the forecast of the Olcsóbbat.hu price comparison portal.
The shortened opening hours once again intensified the interest in online shopping: in the first two weeks of the Olcsóbbat.hu website, registered more than 25 percent increase in traffic compared to the same period last year. While consumer electronics and computing, as well as home appliances continue to be the focus of interest for online shoppers, the volume of searches for sports equipment and books has multiplied compared to Christmas last year, and there has been a significant interest increase in games.
