The Minister highlighted that the highly contagious foot-and-mouth disease virus that has appeared in our country is causing serious damage to the affected farmers. In this situation, supporting livestock keepers who are struggling is a priority state task. The government is therefore providing assistance to agricultural enterprises affected by the virus in order to ease their burdens due to the loss of production and to preserve the jobs of those working on livestock farms. Everything must be done to ensure that the facilities are quickly re-established after the virus is eradicated. It is in all of our common interests that Hungarian livestock farming prospers again, added István Nagy. According to the Minister of Agriculture, the government is doing everything it can to ensure that agricultural production and safe food supply remain unhindered in the humanitarian-economic environment created by the Russian-Ukrainian war and the misguided Brussels sanctions introduced in response. He also mentioned that compliance with protective measures can stop the spread of foot-and-mouth disease; therefore, the most important thing is to follow the rules in a disciplined manner. The government is providing all human and financial resources to eradicate the virus and reduce the burden on farmers.
