Ericsson: number of Smartphone subscribers to be tripled by 2019

The number of mobile subscriptions in the world will increase to 9.3 billion by 2019 from the current 6.6 billion, while the number of smartphone subscribers will triple by 2019 reaching 5.6 billion – Ericsson’s latest mobility report presented on Monday shows.

The authors of the report believe that the mobile data traffic will grow by ten-fold, reaching 10 exabytes between 2013 and 2019.

Jakab Roland, CEO of Ericsson Magyarország told that the engine of growth is video traffic, including video games, that are generating the most traffic. (MTI)
