Inflation just above the 4-percent threshold in 2009
According to KSH, consumer prices in 2009 were 4.2 percent higher on average, compared with the previous year. Household energy prices augmented the most, by 8.2 percent, followed by alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.5 percent), services (4.6 percent) and food (4.4 percent). Consumer prices in December 2009 did not grow, in comparison with November (however, they were 5.6 percent higher than in November 2008). What is more, food prices even lowered (by 0.2 percent). Compared with prices in December 2008, food prices augmented below the average, by 2.9 percent.
