Vajda-Papír’s new factory unit in Dunaföldvár, handed over last year, received the Construction Industry Level Award
The Vajda-Papír Group and the general contractor STRABAG Generálépító Kft. won the 2023 Építóipari Nívó Award of the ÉVOSZ in the category of industrial and energetic construction.
Attila Vajda, the managing director of Vajda-Papír, said that since 2018, the company group has been producing a significant part of the hygiene base paper required for production at its Dunaföldvár plant. However, with the increase in production, it was necessary to increase the capacity, and due to the covid epidemic that took place in the meantime, they also wanted to increase the security of the raw material supply. Therefore, the construction of a warehouse, paper bale handler, paper production machine room and material warehouse became necessary in the second investment phase. Nearly 10,000 square meters of road were also built for the new plant with a floor area of 14,212 square meters. The investment, which tripled the company’s base paper production capacity to 115,000 tons, cost HUF 16 billion, and the development was supported by the Hungarian government with HUF 5.5 billion. With the development, Europe’s largest sanitary paper production capacity was created in Dunaföldvár, and it made it possible to produce the entire base paper requirement of the company group in our own plant, and even strengthen our foreign market positions – emphasized Attila Vajda. He noted that the investment was financed by issuing green bonds, the first of the industrial production companies operating in Hungary to issue green bonds, worth HUF 9.9 billion.
