EP: better consumer and worker protection is needed
The Bankruptcy of the Thomas Cook UK tour operator group highlighted the need for greater consumer and worker protection and stricter monitoring of the financial situation of airlines and travel agencies to prevent European passengers from being the victims of similar bankruptcies – MEPs told on Thursday.
In a resolution adopted at the Strasbourg plenary session, the EU Parliament expressed concern about the 600 workers dismiss, due to the bankruptcy of a British tour operator group. EU countries have been called on to use existing EU instruments to mitigate the damage caused by bankruptcy. (MTI)
