Inflation eased in the euro area
In accordance with preliminary estimates, inflation in the euro area slowed down in March, the statistical office of the European Union announced on Wednesday.
According to Eurostat’s final data, annual inflation in the euro area fell to 6.9 percent in March from 8.5 percent in February, after a record high of 10.6 percent in October. The March figure is the lowest euro zone inflation rate since February 2022, but it is well above the European Central Bank’s 2.0 percent inflation target.
Compared to February, consumer prices in the euro area increased by 0.9 percent in March, when a smaller increase of 0.8 percent was recorded.
