The lack of fodder in organic animal husbandry can be alleviated
Regarding this year’s damage mitigation year, the Minister of Agriculture announced a drought for the entire country on August 19, the drought announcement may contribute to the solution of the ecological or transitional fodder shortage that has arisen in organic farming in connection with this year’s extreme weather, the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) told MTI on Wednesday.
The loss of crops due to the national drought also affected the cultivation of organic or transition feed for organic animal husbandry. As a result, it may become necessary to use non-organic feed for feeding animals in the sector concerned, they wrote. According to the announcement, the European Parliament and the Council stipulate in a regulation how the member states deal with such disaster situations, including possible deviations from this regulation. This is supplemented by the Commission’s decree, which entitles the competent authority to authorize non-organic feed for a limited period of time in the case of specific disaster situations – for example severe drought. The relevant economic operators can apply for permission to use non-organic certified feed from the authority with national competence, the Pest County Government Office.
The Agricultural Notice LXXII. in the 5th issue of the year, on August 19, the Minister of Agriculture announced a drought for the entire country for this year’s damage mitigation year. With the announcement of the drought announcement, the administrative burdens related to the authorization can be reduced, if the other conditions for granting the authorization are met, since the economic operator does not have to prove that he is carrying out organic animal husbandry in a drought-affected area – read the announcement of the AM.
