This is how much pensioner food vouchers are actually worth – each store chain offers a different discount

The delivery of pensioner food vouchers worth a total of 70 billion forints has been completed: more than 2.3 million elderly people received support worth 30 thousand forints per person. The vouchers can be redeemed for cold food until December 31, not only in large chains, but also in markets, primary producers, greengrocers and butchers. Several retail chains increase the value of vouchers with special promotions – even double them.

Aldi customers receive a 1,000-forint coupon for every purchase over 8,000 forints, which they can even use on cleaning products. With the app coupons, the total value of the voucher can increase to 60 thousand forints.

Auchan offers up to 30 thousand forints worth of Trust Points after ten purchases, so the value of the food voucher can be doubled.

Lidl offers a 500 forint coupon for every purchase over 5,000 forints, followed by another 500 forint coupon in the Lidl Plus app.

Penny works with instant discounts: on products marked in the specials, you can save hundreds or even thousands of forints if you use a voucher when making a purchase.

In the SPAR chain stores (SPAR, Interspar, City SPAR, SPAR partner, SPAR market) you also get a 500 forint coupon for every 5,000 forints you spend with a voucher.

Tesco gives a 10 percent instant discount on the value of the voucher and provides an additional 100 forint coupon for every 2,000 forints spent on subsequent purchases.

Most of the discounts are only valid for a limited time, so retirees should pay attention to the redemption deadlines and coupon conditions to get the most out of the vouchers.
