Energy in Europe
Hotels in other European countries also suffer greatly from energy price increases; VIMOSZ collected data from Italy and Germany.
According to the calculations of the Italian hotel association, the increase in energy tariffs meant an average of 120,000 euros in extra costs per hotel by the middle of the summer, and their cost situation worsened by 3.8 billion euros as a result. The survey of our German partner association, DEHOGA, revealed that the ratio of energy costs to income rose to 10-15% in 48.8% of the units, 15-20% in 10.7%, 8.7% already over 20%. The energy price is a primary problem for 89% of responding businesses.
