Sales grow, concentration process stalls
Grocery retail sales valued at HUF 1,540 billion in the December 2014-November 2015 period in the 90 categories audited by Nielsen. Both value and volume sales improved by 4 percent.
Retail service manager Ágnes Szűcs-Villányi told our magazine that formerly sales had tended to concentrate to stores with a large floor space, but in the last couple of years this process came to a halt. Shops bigger than 400m² realised 66 percent of value sales, just like a year before. As for the performance of different regions, sales grew above the average, by 6 percent, in Budapest and Pest County.
