The number of poultry and pig slaughters increased in 2024 84.8 thousand cattle were slaughtered
In Hungarian slaughterhouses in 2024, 4.4 percent less than the previous year, and 4 million 782 thousand pigs were slaughtered, 6.5 percent more (+292 thousand) than in 2023.

237 million poultry were slaughtered in slaughterhouses in 2024, which exceeded the value of the base period by 5.8 percent. The live weight of slaughtered poultry totaled 726.4 thousand tons, and its cut weight (cleaned, dismembered weight) was 544.6 thousand tons in this period. Domestic slaughterhouses produced more than 453 thousand tons of pork and nearly 545 thousand tons of poultry in 2024 (cut weight, cut, cleaned weight in poultry). In terms of number of units, 4.4 percent fewer cattle, 6.5 percent more pigs and 5.8 percent more poultry were slaughtered in 2024 compared to the previous year. In the poultry group, turkey slaughter decreased by 2.6 percent, goose slaughter by 21.2 percent during this period, while duck slaughter increased by 19 percent.
