Tesco raises employee wages
Tesco is increasing the basic salary of its store employees by a minimum of HUF 30,000 gross, to HUF 390,000 gross from March 1, and manual workers working in the new logistics center will receive a total of 21.3 percent salary increase in several stages from January, Tesco-Global Áruházak Zrt.
According to the company, in stores that are challenging in terms of labor recruitment – in about half of Tesco stores nationwide – the available gross income, including location allowance, average shift allowance, cafeteria and employee discount, will increase to HUF 530,000, while without location allowance it will increase to HUF 490,000. The gross basic salary of a picker will increase to HUF 500,000 from March 1.
In addition to raising wages, the department store chain is providing an additional employee benefit package worth 4.6 billion forints, which includes child-rearing, school-entry, anniversary, health and social elements, as well as a cafeteria.
The company will also increase the cafeteria limit by 25 percent this year, so the previous gross limit of 241,500 forints will be uniformly 301,000 forints from June 1, and the 15 percent employee shopping discount will continue to be provided.
The department store chain has thus increased employee salaries by a total of 41.8 percent since 2022, Tesco announced.
