The past month brought another record-breaking decision in the expansion of the domestic environmentally friendly fleet, with 324 trucks receiving green license plates, beating the previous record by one from October 2025 – the Ministry of Energy (EM) announced in a recent Facebook post on Wednesday.

The ministry highlighted that the corporate e-car subsidy, which is still available until mid-April, contributed greatly to the recovery.

According to the post, February was the fifth-strongest month ever in terms of growth in the purely electric fleet, and the fourth-strongest month in terms of passenger cars. According to road registry data, 2,845 exclusively electric vehicles, including 2,516 passenger cars, were equipped with green license plates.

The truck peak is also unprecedented: last year the fleet grew by 2,501 units, also a record. The surge was largely due to the currently ongoing tender with an increased budget and extended deadline. Businesses can receive up to 4 million forints per vehicle to purchase clean and quiet vehicles. Companies have so far requested state support for the purchase of more than 2,800 trucks, the ministry announced.

Greening road transport makes settlements more livable by reducing air pollution and noise pollution. It is worth it for companies to switch in the long term, as electric cars can be operated more cheaply than gasoline cars, the Ministry of Transport pointed out.
