26 professional organizations reject the complete ban on short-term apartment rentals in Budapest
In the case of short-term housing rentals, the Hungarian professional tourism associations recommend a compromise between a complete ban and the current regulations for the government. Twenty-six professional organizations formed a joint professional position on the matter, which was published on Turizmus.com on the occasion of the establishment of the new Capital Assembly.
According to the resolution published on Monday, short-term housing rental is a housing and social issue on the one hand, and a tourism issue on the other.
The short-term rental of apartments for tourist purposes is a Budapest matter, including the inner capital districts, and it does not raise questions either in the outer districts or in our rural towns.
“In the already disturbed real estate market and within it the sublet market, it would further increase the chaos if it were prohibited in some districts, while in other districts short-term apartment rentals would remain permitted”
– were formulated.
It was emphasized that tourism in the capital city needs accommodation operating in the “sharing economy” model, the guests who come here especially like this type of accommodation, in line with the “be like a local” trend.
