South Békés melon plans go up in smoke
The year was worse than expected for melon producers in South Békés: heavy rains at the end of summer ended the season earlier than usual. This year 40 tons of watermelon was harvested per hectare in the region. Due to export suddenly coming to a halt nearly 30 percent of melon, about 20 tons per hectare remained unharvested.
