Vegetable prices can run away
The prices of root vegetables may grow by up to 40-50 percent and onion prices with about 30 to 40 percent in the next period – the president of the Hungarian Vegetable and Fruit Interprfessional Organization and Product Board told InfoRádió. Ledó Ferenc added: the reason for the increase is that the vintage of these fruits and vegetables was very weak in Hungary and in Europe.
Some vegetables behaved differently depending on climatic conditions – emphasized Ledó Ferenc. The biggest problem was the cultivation of root vegetables and onions. Even in Europe and Hungary, 20-30 percent less grown than usual, this is reflected in producer and consumer prices. (infostart.hu)
