The first Hungarian category winner at SIAL d’Or!
This year 243 products were competing at the SIAl d’Or in Montreal, 8 from Hungary. Hungary’s representative in the jury was Trade magazine. SIAL Paris 2012 will be held from 21 until 25 October, with 6,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries enchanting the world with the latest innovations – for the first time including one from Hungary!
Hungarian products have been taking part in the SIAL d’Or competition since 1998 but this is the first time that we give the world a category winner: in the chilled non-dairy products category PLP Seafood Kft.’s SELFISH product line finished first. These goods are ready-to-cook products, packaged in special vacuum bag developed by Sealed Air, which keeps the products fresh for 7 days with simple cooling. They can be put in the oven without opening the bag and are ready in 10 minutes. This is the first time that this type of bag is used with fish products. PLP Seafood Kft.’s product line is already available in hypermarkets. It is needless to say that other countries also brought exciting innovations. The United Kingdom presented Tango, the world’s first soft drink dispensed through an aerosol container. The French came with a collection of wines without sulphur – good bye headache! Our friends in the Czech Republic developed boil-in-bag pasta. A great advantage of SIAL d’Or is that the jury consists of the representative of trade magazines of the different countries, so the winners are introduced to readers in 29 countries at once. All winners will be presented at SIAL Paris 2012 in October, in order to help the winning goods in finding export opportunities. In this month’s issue of Trade magazin you can also find the best food innovations of the last two years from all over the world.
