GVH warns in advance: compliance with the rules of the game is also important off the field!
In connection with the accommodation problems experienced at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) draws the attention of accommodation service companies and individuals to sportsmanlike behavior. According to GVH information, some accommodation providers are conducting price-fixing negotiations in connection with next year’s Europa League final in Budapest.
According to the information of the Economic Competition Authority, in the closed internet groups dealing with accommodation services, located on the largest social platform, market participants have formulated suggestions for a uniform increase or unification of the prices of fan accommodation in relation to the UEFA Europa League final to be held in Budapest on May 31, 2023. .
One of these social media groups has thousands of Budapest accommodation service members, so the information provided there can reach a significant number of actors operating on the supply side of the market. Several people in the group reminded us of the additional demand of 40-44 thousand people after the Europa League final in Budapest, so it was recommended to significantly increase the normal daily prices for this period, which would be at least 100-120 € for 4 people, 60-72 € for 2 people and it can be a price. Another post contained an additional invitation, according to which the service provider that set the price described, should indicate it in the form of a comment. At the same time, it should also be mentioned that, according to a significant majority of the comments, the mentioned prices will still be excessively low, so the market could bear a further increase.
