Ryanair is ending its subscription service
Eight months after its launch, the airline is ending its Ryanair Prime subscription program, 24.hu reports, citing Bloomberg.
The service offered discounted ticket prices, travel insurance and free pre-booked seats for up to 12 trips for an annual fee of 79 euros. Ryanair said the program had more than 55,000 subscribers, generating €4.4 million in revenue, but the discounts reduced ticket revenue by €6 million.
Existing subscribers can continue to use the services until their membership expires, but the airline is no longer accepting new members.
The decision was justified by the economic inefficiency of the customer program: according to the marketing director, the trial run “cost more than it brought in”.
