Shopping is a special experience in MOM Park
The SPAR store in MOM Park was taken over from the Match chain last March and went through a complete overhaul. The 2000m² supermarket opened on 12 September 2013 and its interior design solutions won domestic and international acclaim.
A special atmosphere was created by pairing modern design with a marketplace-like layout. Environmental considerations were also taken into account, e.g. energy saving LED lights, refrigerators with doors, etc were used. Experts of Hungarian firm LAB5 – Linda Erdélyi, András Dobos, Balázs Korényi, Virág Anna Gáspár – were commissioned with creating the store’s interior design. They put in 3 main routes and for quick shopping trips it is enough to use the ‘to-go’ route; there is a short circle for those buying the basic goods – customers taking this route can pay at the fast checkout by the entrance and for the big weekend shopping there are comfortable paths that offer a complex customer experience. Interior design shapes were inspired by the three main routes. Since in the Dutch language Spar means wood, the designers decided to use this material in many places. They applied a limited range of colours as due to the immense number of goods a store interior is never boring. Mainly white and ‘beige-grey’ were used, the latter referring to the MOM Park building.
