Controlled propagation material against the spread of grapevine golden yellows
Controlled propagation material plays an important role in controlling the grapevine golden yellows (FD) phytoplasma. The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) draws the attention of producers and buyers to use only controlled, labeled propagation material in compliance with official measures, thus preventing the spread of the disease.

Although FD is not dangerous to human health, it can have a serious impact on the viticulture and winemaking sector. There is no effective plant protection product against it, so prevention is key. The use of officially controlled, certified propagation material is the most effective preventive tool. The official label of the propagation material, combined with the plant passport, certifies the plant’s freedom from quarantine and non-quarantine pests subject to inspection, even in the case of online purchases. Nébih asks producers and buyers to: • only plant controlled, certified propagation material, follow official plant health and plant protection regulations, report infected or suspicious plants immediately and remove them from the plantation, and clean the plantation from forest sedge and other wild host plants, as well as neglected vineyard areas.
