Extreme weather makes it impossible to produce green peas and sweet corn
The Hungarian green pea and sweet corn sector is in serious trouble, as due to the extreme weather conditions in recent years, more and more people in the sector are thinking about giving up growing green peas. This, in turn, would not only make domestic green pea production impossible, but would also deal a serious blow to the cultivation of sweet corn and the processing industry based on them. Agrárszektor asked the FruitVeB Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization and Product Council (FruitVeB) about the seriousness of the situation and the possible solution.
The FruitVeB report on the domestic situation of green peas and sweet corn has just been published. In this, the Product Council drew attention to the fact that negative phenomena are already being felt, which have endangered not only the functioning of production, but also the functioning of the processing industry, as reported by Agrárszektor.
