The harvest has started in Békés county. Farmers expect excellent harvest from winter barley, but winter wheat is expected to be a medium to weak this year, the Békés county directorate of the National Chamber of Agricultural Economics informed MTI on Wednesday.

In Békés, 85 thousand hectares were sown. from autumn wheat, 23 thousand from autumn barley, 16 thousand from autumn cabbage, 3 thousand from triticale and 300 hectares from rye.

As was said at the meeting of the Harvest Coordination Committee, 90% of the areas sown with autumn barley have already been harvested, the yield is very good (7.1 tonnes / hectare), but there are some places where 8-10 tonnes have been harvested per hectare. (MTI)
