Draft decree on food vouchers for pensioners completed
The draft government decree on a 30,000-forint food voucher for pensioners has been completed, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) announced on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
In his video, Róbert Zsigó said that the government is determined to take action against unjustified price increases by all means.
He said that in addition to reducing margins, the voucher will provide a special subsidy for pensioners.
According to the state secretary, the voucher will be paper-based, issued in various denominations, and delivered to those affected by mail in the fall.
According to the plans, the voucher will be redeemable until December 31, not only in rural convenience stores, but also in larger chain stores, markets, and even at primary producers, he added.
He highlighted that the entitlement works similarly to the previous utility voucher: every person living and staying in Hungary who receives an old-age pension or other pension-like benefit in July 2025 will receive it. The voucher is also valid in the case of, for example, widow’s or parental pension.
Róbert Zsigó indicated that the elderly will always be informed about the information in due time.
