Amazing price hike on the dairy product market – more and more people may turn to imports

Significant price increase

In January 2025, the national average producer price of raw milk in Hungary reached 206.96 HUF per kilogram, which:

• was 3% higher than in the previous month,
• and 26% higher than in the same month last year.

The purchased quantity also increased:

• In January, 5% more raw milk was purchased than in the previous month.
• However, the export price decreased, 7% lower than in the previous month, but still 28% higher than in January 2024.

The prices of processed dairy products changed as follows compared to the previous month:

• Increased:

  • Packaged butter: +5%
  • Trappista cheese: +4%
