The time for solutions has come – the world is at the beginning of a new era
The Hungarian Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSDH) is now an organization that brings together the top managers of more than 140 responsible companies and is ready to take the lead in systemic changes in a challenging period. At the Members’ Meeting of the organization held in the Railway History Park, Csaba Kőrösi, the recently departed president of the UN General Assembly, spoke about the beginning of a new era with solutions to our difficulties.
“We have entered the era of wars, while we want to achieve a sustainable development turn. But there is hope, because science can give a much more accurate diagnosis than ever before, the communities’ demand for security and balanced development is getting stronger, and more and more economic actors see that sustainable development, material and energy efficiency, decreasing environmental footprint and social responsibility became a competitiveness factor. It’s time for solutions”
– said Csaba Kőrösi.
“The EU and domestic ESG regulations impose a data collection and measurement task on companies, which – if we exceed the compliance level – can point to significant areas of development. Used as a well-articulated management tool, companies have the opportunity to step up and make the most of the opportunities for sustainable development. This can be a very good basis for a paradigm shift so that companies are valued not only based on economic indicators, but also on the basis of their sustainability performance.”
– added Irén Márta, the executive director of the organization, after the acceptance of the report on the year 2023.
