Eisberg’s campaign to encourage healthy eating has started
We should consume at least five servings of vegetables or fruits per day to preserve our health, based on the recommendation of the National Association of Hungarian Dietitians, but we are still far behind. Moreover, we have room for improvement in European comparisons.
The fact that, according to the data of the Central Statistical Office, the consumption of vegetables has increased in Hungary in recent years is cause for optimism: in 2010, consumers consumed 48 kilos of other vegetables, including lettuce, on an annual basis, excluding potatoes, this data In 2015, it increased to 52 kilograms and by 2020 to 60 kilograms. Eisberg first appeared on the domestic market with ice salad in the early 90s, and then, in response to consumer demand, more and more salads and salad mixes were introduced, adapted to the tastes of Hungarians. According to Kinga Shenker-Horváth, Dietitian of the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and Eisberg’s brand ambassador: “The latest nutrition surveys show that the vegetable and fruit intake of adults in our country does not reach the recommended level. However, by consuming the right amount of vegetables and fruits, at least five servings a day, we get valuable nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibers, which help prevent diseases and maintain health.” The specialist recommends that we eat different colored vegetables and salads for every main meal.
