The officially priced firewood program has started
The official price firewood program has started, you can already register with the intention to purchase at the forest farms. The request can be made in person, by phone or by e-mail, the Ministry of Agriculture told MTI on Sunday.
The ministry wrote that the government is taking another extraordinary measure to offset the energy and gas crisis caused by the failed Brussels sanctions and to reduce utility costs for Hungarian families. The Minister of Agriculture, István Nagy, was quoted in the announcement, who said that the population can get firewood at the maximum price in this way and that in many families they can even replace gas heating with it. Firewood produced at state forestry farms can be purchased at a uniform price, in quantities of up to ten forest cubic meters per household, at 152 sales points in the country.
Because of the sanctions, it is necessary to switch from gas to wood in many places
The minister reminded that the Russian-Ukrainian war and the failed Brussels sanctions caused an energy crisis in Europe. Therefore, it was necessary to create the possibility to heat with wood instead of gas wherever possible, he said. He added: the autumn logging period has already begun, and the forestry companies are constantly fulfilling the orders of the population. The country has a sufficient quantity of firewood for the heating period. The autumn production is progressing according to plans, the firewood part of which is sold by the foresters on the domestic market. István Nagy also explained that the start of the firewood program means the acceptance of requests and the beginning of payment of the price of the ordered firewood at the designated payment points of the state forestry farms. Forest farms that have stocks of the ordered quantity of firewood will also begin the handover.
This is how the program is structured
Cylindrical firewood can be purchased in the program, which must be transported from the pick-up point to the place of use by the customer. In the firewood program, hardwood, softwood and pine firewood raw materials can be purchased; in the case of individual state forestry farms, according to the species composition characteristic of the given area. In the program, the uniform maximum price of cylindrical firewood that can be purchased from state forestry farms, including sales tax, is HUF 30,000 per cubic meter of forest for hardwoods and HUF 19,000-19,000 for softwoods and pine. The Ministry of Agriculture also announced that in the firewood program, the amount of firewood purchased from state forestry farms after May 1, 2022 is included in the ten cubic meter quantity. It was pointed out that the state forest farms primarily serve the population of the settlements in their own operational area. The list of the operational area, as well as further detailed information on the locations, conditions and procedure of the purchase, can be found on the kormany.hu website and on the websites of the state forestry farms. In addition, the forest farms continue to provide the opportunity to collect roe, which can help families in need – read the announcement of the Ministry of Agriculture.
