The construction of BMW’s Hungarian plant is postponed
Due to the coronavirus epidemic and related restrictive measures, sales of the BMW Group have fallen sharply and the epidemic will limit the operation of the entire automotive industry for some time to come, so BMW aims to maintain a strong liquidity position by reviewing all projects, investments and product development. The company is implementing projects in response to the expected demand, so in the current situation, the construction of the BMW plant in Debrecen has been postponed for a year – portfolio.hu wrote.
On May 6, BMW released its quarterly report, in which management had already written about the introduction of strong cost control, because the priority is to preserve liquidity, which is why it would not save on R&D costs, but on investments.
BMW has 16 plants in Europe, and the Debrecen plant will be the 17th in a row. (portfolio.hu)
