In the first week of December, Kifli.hu reached its ten millionth order in its history. Customers now fill more than 300,000 virtual baskets per month in the online store, which was launched nearly six years ago. With around 732,000 registered customers, Kifli.hu’s service is available in Budapest and the capital’s agglomeration, as well as in most of Pest County and major rural towns, reaching nearly a third of the domestic population with its more than 700 couriers.

The ten millionth order in Kifli.hu’s nearly six-year history in Hungary was placed at the beginning of December. The online supermarket, which was launched as a test in November 2019 and then officially in 2020, initially had around 4,000 monthly orders, but this year it has increased to 300,000 monthly orders. The most active customer of the online supermarket, which currently has more than 730 thousand registered customers, has placed 1,819 orders so far, worth a total of 18.6 million forints. The average basket value of 14 thousand forints at the start has now increased to 26 thousand forints, and the number of couriers serving in the initial period, which was 110, has expanded to 724 in six years.

The most active districts and settlements in terms of orders are located on the Buda side of the capital, with the top-ranking being the Máriaremete part of Budapest’s 2nd district, where customers order their groceries from Kifli more than four times a month on average.

Kifli.hu launched its Hungarian service with test orders in November 2019, and full home delivery became available in January 2020. At the time of launch, the now popular Xtra and Kiflicske Klub, as well as express ordering, were not yet available. Over the past six years, the range has been expanded with Kifli’s own brands, such as Miil, Dacello and the Kifli Szelekció, which is available exclusively on the Hungarian market. At the time of launch, Kifli home delivery was limited to Budapest and a few nearby agglomeration settlements. Today, however, the online supermarket reaches nearly a third of the Hungarian population, covering not only the capital and its agglomeration, but also several major county seats and their surroundings, including Kecskemét, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, and the area around Lake Balaton.

Kifi.hu’s sales revenue has increased nearly fiftyfold in six years, from 1.3 billion forints to 57.1 billion. The continuous growth of turnover indicates that the annual growth rate measured in value has averaged over 40 percent per year over the past four years.
