The coronavirus effect has reached the poultry market

In the recent period, the transfer price of poultry products has decreased by an average of 5-10 percent compared to last year – Csorbai Attila, Chairman and Director of the Poultry Products Council, told InfoRádió. The European Association of Poultry Slaughterhouses and Traders estimates that chicken meat production could fall by 3 percent and turkey meat production by 5 percent this year.
By mid-August, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic was really noticeable in the poultry industry, although due to the summer barbecue season, this is also a key period in this sector. As a result, the sector is really sensitive to the fact that the fall in incomes as a result of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus has also dampened demand for poultry products, and prices have fallen across Europe this year due to bird flu as well.
