Economic activity picked up significantly more than expected in June in the euro area due to the phasing out of disease control restrictions, according to a survey of procurement managers at the IHS Markit Institute for Economic Research in London.
According to preliminary data from Markit’s June survey, composite PMI, formed by aggregating manufacturing and service industry data, has risen to its highest level since June 2006, at 59.2 points from 57.1 points in May. Analysts expected a less improving rate of 58.8 points. (MTI)
