Support for new farmers rearing indigenous and endangered animal breeds
The Ministry of Rural Development statute amendment enabling support for new farmers rearing indigenous and endangered animal breeds came into effect on August 1.
The breeding of indigenous and endangered agricultural species is being supported through the European Agricultural and Rural Development Fund. The fund's statues have until now not enabled the payment of support to those who began working with indigenous species after 2010. The aim of the Ministry of Rural Development's statute amendment is to enable applications to be lodged with the Office of Agriculture and Rural Development on a yearly basis. So for instance, a farmer who according to the stipulations of the statute did not own any animals on January 1 2010 will now be entitled to lodge an application for support.
The farmers affected may lodge their applications with respect to the period after January 1, 2011 in writing using a pre-printed form between September 1 and 30, 2011 at the regional branch of the Office of Agriculture and Rural Development according to the applicant's place of abode or business address.
