Electronic signature just as valid as the handwritten
As of 1 July 2016 a new regulation applies to electronic signatures. E-signatures will become valid, legally binding, evidence providing and accepted in each member state of the European Union. Deloitte Legal is of the opinion that the number of both technological solutions for creating e-signatures and the service providers who use them will grow. The eIDAS Regulation (910/2014/EU) also specifies the rules for electronic transactions throughout the EU. Dr Júlia Szarvas, senior attorney at law with Deloitte Legal told our magazine that compared with the e-signatures used in Hungary in the past, the eIDAS regulation makes a difference by bringing in the principle of equivalence: the e-signature will have the same legal value and force as the handwritten one and each member state will be obliged to accept any e-signature technology developed and used in another member state.
