Electronic communication: an investment with rapid return
Consumers remain the most important for a company even in the worst economic period, and a comprehensive, fast and accurate business management system with electronic devices creates advantages for them too. Eurosped International Forwarding and Road Carrier is an affiliate of logistics holding company Masped, with 120 employees. The company deals with storing, logistics, freighting and professional customs examinations. Their 11,000-m² logistics warehouse in Székesfehérvár receives 300-400 pallets per day. Warehouse manager Gábor Wilde told our magazine that their company processes represent a great challenge for their IT partner and the ERP system applied. They have been using CSB-System’s software since March 2009; an integral element of the IT solution is mobile commissioning realised with an M-ERP solution, which uses EAN 128 barcode labelling and SSCC/NVE marking reader. The highly-integrated ERP solution guarantees that all processes at Eurosped are perfectly connected. One of the biggest advantages is that with low-level labour force requirement a high-level commissioning performance can be produced.
As Gábor Wilde puts it: – We can build on the accuracy and reliability of CSB-System’s software. Even our business partners profit from our using the system: our domestic customers basically do not need to have their own logistics. Eurosped simply serves clients’ needs faster. For medium-sized and large enterprises Synergon offers integrated solutions which make it possible to implement processes connected to invoicing and other document-communication via EDI, within a company’s own business administration system. EDI is the structured transmission of economic, administrational, financial or freight documents between computer systems by electronic means, in an internationally standardised way. EDI is structured data exchange from one computer system to another without human intervention – unlike e-mailing which is transmitting messages between persons. If a company or an institution wishes to switch to EDI from traditional mail or e-mail, it has to perform external and internal process analysis, implement changes and engage in coordination beforehand. Synergon Retail Systems Kft.’s EDI partner is Comarch s.a. in Poland – one of Central and Eastern Europe’s most dynamically developing IT companies.
The four major advantages of EDI systems are: less time is spent with working with documents, a more efficient invoice control is possible, there is an increased level of accuracy and printing out fewer documents protects the environment. At the same time, EDI systems are also capable of managing the complete information flow between manufacturers, suppliers, logistics centres and distribution points. Comarch also developed WEB EDI, a solution for micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises. This makes it possible to join the system without investing a lot at the start, by simply paying a monthly fee for the EDI service. All these companies need is a computer and an Internet connection.
