Electric air taxi? The new super weapon in tourism!
The United Arab Emirates Ras al-Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and Ras al-Khaimah Tourism Office (RAKTDA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Skyports Infrastructure (Skyports) on Wednesday for the development of the vertiport infrastructure needed for electric air taxi services – RAKTDA informed MTI Hungarian representation.
According to the announcement, the jointly developed, designed and operated eVTOL vehicles capable of vertical take-off and landing are expected to be commercially available as early as 2027.
As a result of the development, tourists will have a fast, comfortable and environmentally friendly transport option to visit the most popular places in Ras al-Khaimah, including Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra and Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates. in a statement. Tourists will be able to save a significant amount of time with the new mode of transport – they indicated, citing as an example that the journey from Al Marjan Island to Jebel Jaisz takes about 70 minutes by car, and this time will be reduced to less than 20 minutes by air taxi.
